A gentle reminder for anyone feeling overwhelmed and not sure where to start
While there’s plenty of work to do in mutual aid, at the end of the day what we’re here to do is stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our neighbors. This list of ways to get plugged in can be intimidating, but please know that each and every one of these is an invitation – it is someone in our community reaching out their hand and asking you to say hello and share in our project of building a stronger, safer, more loving community in Los Angeles.

We want you to know that we’re happy you’re here, and you are not alone. It takes effort and no small amount of vulnerability to show up and join something unfamiliar. But we hope you decide to take that step. We hope that you take a chance and join us in this project. So that you can be the one to reach out your hand to the next person and tell them they are not alone.

Active calls from the community

The fastest way to get involved in local mutual aid efforts is by finding a group doing on-the-ground work in your neighborhood. Our Group Directory is currently unavailable at this time as we are working on adjusting some operations to ensure the safety and well-being of organizers across the city. Thank you for your patience.

Volunteer with MALAN

Our function as a mutual aid network is to connect people and groups with each other so everyone can get the help they need or provide help when they can, but we also need folks to make MALAN happen. ~~You can fill out this volunteer form below~~ Send us an email if you’re interested in joining MALAN and working on projects like the Dispatch, the Directory, Produce in the Park, and much more.
